Moldova wins silver at European U17 Boxing Championships

Moldovan boxer Alexandru-Achile Buhaniuc won the silver medal at the European U17 Boxing Championships.

The competition was held in Budva, Montenegro.

According to the Ministry of Education and Research, the athlete from Chișinău secured four consecutive victories before reaching the final of the 60 kg category. After clear wins over Georgia’s Marian Voloshin and Kosovo’s Riad Mziu, Buhaniuc advanced to the semifinals by defeating Azerbaijan’s Ali Abasli on points, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

In the semifinals, he beat Armenia’s Eduard Karamyan through technical superiority. In the final, he lost 1-4 to England’s Charlie Kiit, finishing as European U17 vice-champion.

Last year, Buhaniuc won the European junior championship title.

Moldova was represented by 13 athletes at the European U17 Championships.
