YouTube expands crackdown on pro-Russian propaganda in Ukraine

YouTube has blocked access for users in Ukraine to, or completely removed, another 25 channels belonging to sanctioned individuals and organizations.

Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation announced the move on Facebook, CE Report quotes Ukrinform.

Among the removed channels were those belonging to the Russian media outlets Ukraina.ru and RIA Novosti, pro-Kremlin propagandists Tetyana Montyan and Alexander Sladkov, as well as one of the channels operated by pro-Russian politician and former Ukrainian lawmaker Yevhen Murayev.

Within Ukraine, YouTube also blocked another Murayev channel, along with channels run by pro-Russian blogger Vsevolod Filimonenko, former Ukrainian TV presenter Yuriy Kot, and Russian propagandists Anton Kholodov and Dmytro Huliyev.

Access was also restricted to channels affiliated with ZvezdaNEWS, the All-Russian Cossack Society, the Union of Journalists of Russia, several pseudo-volunteer organizations, and other hostile propaganda platforms.

According to the CCD, these channels spread disinformation, justified Russia's armed aggression, supported the invading forces, and promoted Kremlin propaganda.

Earlier, reported that YouTube had also blocked in Ukraine the channels of Nikolai Baskov, Lolita Milyavskaya, Stas Mikhailov, Olga Buzova, Ani Lorak, Anna Sedokova, and Alexander Rosenbaum.
