Trump picks Musk-backed Jared Isaacman to head NASA

President Donald Trump has reinstated Jared Isaacman as Administrator of NASA, reversing his earlier decision to withdraw the nomination in June.

In a post on Truth Social, President Trump praised interim NASA chief Sean Duffy for his service and announced Isaacman’s renewed appointment, calling him “an accomplished business leader, philanthropist, pilot, and astronaut,” CE Report quotes ANSA.

Isaacman — a commercial astronaut and entrepreneur — is known for his close partnership with Elon Musk, who personally supported his nomination. The President had previously withdrawn the appointment following a disagreement with Musk, but the two have since reconciled.

“Jared’s passion for space, his experience as an astronaut, and his dedication to expanding the new space economy make him perfectly suited to guide NASA into a bold new era,” President Trump said.

Isaacman, founder of Shift4 and commander of SpaceX’s Inspiration4 mission, will now oversee NASA’s next stage of exploration and innovation under the Trump administration.
