Cedevita Olimpija claims sixth straight Slovenian championship title
The basketball players of Cedevita Olimpija have won the Slovenian national championship title for the sixth consecutive season.
The Ljubljana-based Dragons defeated Krka Novo Mesto 3-0 in the championship final series, ending the season in the best possible way – with another trophy added to the club’s collection.
In the third game, the scoreboard at Leon Štukelj Sports Hall showed 87-71 in favor of the Ljubljana side, CE Report informs via Cedevita Olimpija's official website.
The decisive third game of the final series was played in Novo Mesto, where Cedevita Olimpija achieved another significant milestone in its rich history. The Ljubljana club became the first team since Krka to lift the Slovenian championship trophy in Novo Mesto.
Until now, Krka had successfully defended its home-court advantage in every championship final series it won on home soil.
For Cedevita Olimpija, this marks its 23rd Slovenian national championship title since the country's independence, further confirming its status as the most successful basketball club in Slovenia.
It is also the Dragons’ 16th consecutive trophy in competitions organized under the auspices of the Basketball Federation of Slovenia, extending an extraordinary period of domestic dominance. DJ Stewart was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the final series.
The championship showdown between Cedevita Olimpija and Krka was the 12th national championship final contested between the two clubs. With the triumph in the 2025/26 season, the Ljubljana side leveled the head-to-head record in championship finals, with both clubs now having won six titles against each other.
Their rivalry remains one of the most significant and successful in the history of Slovenian club sports.
The success in the 2025/26 season is further proof of the remarkable consistency of the Ljubljana team. In the last nine national championship final series, Cedevita Olimpija has won eight titles, solidifying its position at the top of Slovenian club basketball.
The sixth consecutive championship title represents one of the longest winning streaks in the club’s history, although the record still belongs to the generations that competed under the names Smelt and Union Olimpija, winning eight consecutive national titles between 1992 and 1999.
By claiming a sixth straight championship, Cedevita Olimpija has moved even closer to that remarkable achievement and continues a tradition of success that has accompanied the Ljubljana club for more than three decades.
Throughout the final series, Cedevita Olimpija delivered mature, disciplined, and high-quality performances, fully deserving its latest championship crown. With the victory in Novo Mesto, the Dragons capped another successful season and provided their supporters with a new memorable chapter in the club’s history.
In addition to the national championship title, the Dragons also celebrated victories in the Slovenian Cup (Spar Cup) and the Slovenian Super Cup, while reaching the quarterfinals of both the EuroCup and the ABA League playoffs.
