Casemiro to team up with Messi at Inter Miami

After 12 years in Europe, Casemiro says goodbye to elite football.

Inter Miami announced the signing of the 34-year-old Brazilian midfielder, who joins the club as a free agent after his contract with Manchester United expired. The deal runs until 2027, with an option to extend until 2029, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

"What motivates me most is the desire to keep winning and continue developing. The project presented to me by the club and the effort they made to bring me here means a lot to me. I can't wait to repay that trust not only in matches, but also in training," Casemiro said.

Having moved to Europe from São Paulo in 2012, Casemiro played for Real Madrid, Porto, and Manchester United.

With Brazil, he has made 91 appearances and recently played at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, his third World Cup after 2018 and 2022.

Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas described the signing as a reflection of the club's vision:

"We have built a global club with the vision of becoming not only the best in the United States, but also a global reference point. Casemiro represents everything this club stands for: leadership and a winning mentality."

David Beckham also welcomed the arrival:

"I am very proud to welcome Casemiro and his family. He is a winner who has achieved so much, and I am delighted that he chose Miami as his next home."

The former Barcelona rival will now share the dressing room with Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez at the reigning MLS champions, who are currently second in the Eastern Conference and will return from the World Cup break against Chicago Fire.
