The Kosovo women’s national handball team faces global powerhouse France women’s national handball team today, April 9.

The match will take place at 20:15 at the Palace of Youth and Sports, where a fiery atmosphere is expected, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

Kosovo will be up against one of the most successful teams in handball history. France has built an extraordinary record over the years, winning world titles in 2003, 2017, and 2023, and most recently finishing third at the World Championship. In addition, they have secured four silver medals and one bronze in the same competition.

France’s success extends beyond world championships. At the Olympic Games, they have consistently been among the elite, winning silver in Rio 2016, gold in Tokyo 2020, and silver again in Paris 2024. Meanwhile, at the European Championship, France won its first title in 2018, was runner-up in 2020, and reached the semifinals in the last two editions, 2022 and 2024.

In the current Euro 2026 qualifiers, France has shown complete dominance, winning its first four matches convincingly and already securing qualification.

Despite France entering as the clear favorite, Kosovo aims to give its maximum performance in front of the home crowd. The Kosovar players are highly motivated to deliver a perfect performance and challenge one of the strongest teams in the world.

Today’s match is expected to be an important test for Kosovo, offering a valuable opportunity to measure their level against one of the world’s top teams.
