Milan's Portuguese star suffers upper thigh injury
Milan faced a major concern on Monday evening as Rafael Leao was forced to leave the field injured during the match against Torino.
The Portuguese forward limped off immediately after striking the ball incorrectly and felt severe pain in the upper part of his right thigh, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
The incident occurred at a difficult moment for Milan, who were trailing 2–1 after goals from Nikola Vlasic and Duván Zapata, while Adrien Rabiot had scored a beautiful goal to keep the Rossoneri in the game. Minutes later, the worrying episode involving Leao took place.
Leao attempted a long-range shot, but as soon as the ball left his foot, he bent over in pain and placed his hands on his groin. The player tried to run but realized the seriousness of the situation and immediately left the field without waiting for medical staff. He was replaced by Samuele Ricci, a former Torino player.
On the bench, Leao was seen with an ice pack tied to his adductor muscles, raising fears of an injury that could keep him out for several weeks. There is still no official confirmation about his condition, but Milan hopes that the player stopped the injury in time to avoid more serious consequences.
The situation becomes even more complicated for the coach, as Santiago Gimenez is still out and Christian Pulisic was left on the bench due to fatigue from flu symptoms. Leao has been important this season, with six goals and one assist in Serie A and Coppa Italia, making his absence a serious blow for the team.
