Sabrina Ionescu, the Romanian-born star of North American professional women’s basketball, has been included in the new Advisory Council of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), Reuters reports.

The North American women’s soccer league announced on Thursday the creation of an advisory council notable both for its ambitions and for its distinguished membership, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.

The council’s members include former and current sports stars such as Chris Paul, Brandi Chastain, Sabrina Ionescu, Sue Bird, Eli Manning, Grant Hill, Ken Griffey Jr., Lindsey Vonn, and Magic Johnson, among other celebrities.

The group brings together a collection of investors and legendary athletes aiming to accelerate the league’s growth, expand its reach, and shape the future of women’s football.

According to the NWSL statement, “the advisory council brings together some of the most influential voices in sports, entertainment, and business — all of whom are current investors in NWSL clubs. Together, they will help the league unlock new partnership opportunities, expand its audience, and strengthen its position as both a top professional league and a powerful cultural platform.”

The new council will begin meeting in 2026 to identify opportunities to achieve its growth goals.

Each NWSL team is represented by up to two members, and the new advisory council’s full composition is as follows:

Chris Paul, Julie Foudy (Angel City FC); Brandi Chastain, Sabrina Ionescu (Bay FC); Elizabeth Banks, Aly Raisman (Boston Legacy FC); Jordan Angeli (Denver Summit FC); Brittany Mahomes (Kansas City Current); Sue Bird, Eli Manning (Gotham FC); Lauren Holiday (North Carolina Courage); Grant Hill, Tamia Hill (Orlando Pride); Joey Harrington, Bryce Young (Portland Thorns FC); Ken Griffey Jr. (Seattle Reign FC); Alex Morgan (San Diego Wave FC); Lindsey Vonn (Utah Royals FC); Dominique Dawes, Magic Johnson (Washington Spirit).
