Kosovo marks historic first FIFA-monitored match against Haiti

The friendly match considered historic between the national teams of Kosovo and Haiti took place on March 5, 2014, and ended in a 0–0 draw.

It was the first international match held under the monitoring of FIFA.

The Adem Jashari Olympic Stadium in Mitrovica, which had taken on the appearance of a European-style stadium, hosted the first historic international match of the Kosovar national team, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

The home side showed more initiative during the first half. The opening minutes were marked by emotions, but as time passed the team began to appear more stable and organized.

The “Dardanians” continued to attack, applying pressure, dominating the first half and creating numerous chances, but the goal never came.

The hosts started the second half even more strongly, continuously trying to build attacking moves that could punish Haiti.

The visiting players managed to slow the game down for a period, but the Kosovars quickly regained offensive dominance on the field.

The efforts of the players representing Kosovo continued until the referee’s final whistle, but the goal never arrived.

More than 17,000 fans were present in the stadium to watch this historic match. The event was also attended by Kosovo’s top state leaders, including the president, the prime minister and the speaker of parliament.
