There are 100 days left until the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be the first World Cup in history to feature 48 teams.

Hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada, the tournament will kick off on Thursday, June 11, at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. After six weeks of action, it will conclude on Sunday, July 19, with the final at the 82,500-seat MetLife Stadium near New York City, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.

A total of 104 matches will be played across 16 different stadiums and four time zones, with 78 of those matches hosted in the United States.

FIFA generated $7 billion in revenue from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and expects that figure to rise to $11 billion in 2026.

With the expanded format, Cape Verde, Curaçao, Jordan and Uzbekistan have qualified for the World Cup for the first time in their history.
