Ronaldo remains in Saudi Arabia despite jet rumors
Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo is still in Saudi Arabia, despite rumors that he had left the country on his private jet amid the conflict in the Middle East, according to DPA, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.
On Tuesday, reports emerged that the 41-year-old player’s private plane had allegedly departed Saudi Arabia on Monday evening.
Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states hosting American military bases were targeted by retaliatory strikes launched by Iranian forces after the United States and Israel carried out an attack against the regime in Tehran on Saturday.
However, according to Press Association, Ronaldo remains in Saudi Arabia, with matches in the domestic Saudi Pro League scheduled from Thursday to Saturday, and they are expected to proceed as planned.
Ronaldo’s club, Al Nassr, will host Neom on Saturday in Riyadh, where reports emerged on Tuesday that the U.S. embassy had been struck by several Iranian drones.
In the United Arab Emirates, another country hit by Iran, tennis players were forced to evacuate the court during a match on the ATP Challenger Tour after a drone struck a nearby oil terminal.
Later, the Association of Tennis Professionals confirmed that matches at the Fujairah Challenger were suspended for the entire day following the security alert.
“In accordance with established security protocols, play was immediately suspended and players, officials and staff were directed to safe areas,” an ATP spokesperson said.
“The health, safety and well-being of players, staff and tournament personnel are our priority. After consultations with local authorities and security advisers, matches were cancelled for the rest of the day as a precautionary measure. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide further updates as soon as possible,” ATP added.
