Ballon d'Or 2025: All winners, all awards
The 28-year-old forward of the French National Team and Paris Saint-Germain, Ousmane Dembélé, was the big winner of the “Ballon d’Or” at the 69th Award Ceremony held on Monday evening (22/9) in Paris, at the Théâtre du Châtelet.
The striker of the European champions, with 35 goals and 16 assists in 53 appearances for PSG across all competitions in the 2024/2025 season, was named the best player in the world, prevailing over Lamine Yamal. He was one of the great protagonists of the Parisians’ incredible campaign last season, both domestically and internationally, leading to the double in France and the Champions League triumph, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.
As a result, he collected the most votes among the contenders for this prestigious individual award, succeeding Manchester City and Spain’s midfielder Rodrigo Hernández Cascante (Rodri).
It should be noted that he receives this honor for the first time in his career, just as his peer Rodri did last year.
After thanking “football itself” and all those who trusted him, he dedicated the trophy to his wife Laura, and to his family “for everything they have given me.” He also thanked all his teammates in the Spanish National Team and at Manchester City, which he described as “the best club in the world.”
Bonmatí – Women’s Player of the Year
Barcelona’s absolute star, 27-year-old Aitana Bonmatí, achieved the three-peat. She won the women’s “Ballon d’Or” for the third consecutive season, despite failing to win the Euro final with Spain. She called Barça “the team of my heart,” thanked Andrés Iniesta, from whom she received the award, and of course her family and those who support her.
Twenty goals and 16 assists for the world’s best female player last season, despite being a midfielder, celebrating with Barça the Spanish double and the Super Cup.
Johan Cruyff Award – Best Coach of Men’s/Women’s Football (2024/2025)
For the first time, the women’s award went to Dutchwoman Sarina Wiegman, head coach of the England National Team, with whom she won the Women’s Euro in Switzerland last summer, defeating Spain on penalties. “This award is special to me because of the name it bears, a giant of football,” said the world’s best women’s coach of the season.
The men’s award went to Spaniard Luis Enrique (succeeding Carlo Ancelotti), the man who led PSG to the top of Europe with the unforgettable 5-0 victory over Inter in the Champions League final at Munich’s Allianz Arena. He wasn’t present at the ceremony because PSG were playing their rescheduled match against Marseille in Marseille at the same time!
Kopa Trophy – Best Young Player (2024/2025)
Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal repeated his success, winning the award at just 18 years old. A key player in Barça’s domestic double in La Liga, with decisive goals throughout the season, he was the favorite alongside PSG’s Désiré Doué. In his speech, he said: “My goal is to win every title with Barcelona.”
The women’s award went for the first time to 19-year-old Vicky López, who played last season for Barcelona but now belongs to Real Madrid. She dedicated the award to her mother, who passed away.
Best Women’s Team (2024/2025)
Arsenal dethroned Barcelona by winning the Champions League (1-0 in the José Alvalade final) and were named the best women’s club team of the season.
Best Men’s Team (2024/2025)
European and French champions PSG received the award, having finally lifted the Champions League trophy after 13 years of efforts and after the lost final in 2020 against Bayern during the “Lisbon bubble” of the coronavirus era. The trophy was collected by club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
Gerd Müller Award – Top Scorer (2024/2025, club and national level)
Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres, last season with Sporting Lisbon (now at Arsenal), celebrated the double with the Lions (54 goals in 52 appearances), while Eva Pajor with 28 goals in 25 matches for Barcelona collected the women’s top scorer award.
Yashin Trophy (Men/Women, 2024/2025)
Chelsea and England goalkeeper Hannah Hampton, who reached the top of Europe with her national team, won the award as the best female goalkeeper of the season. On the men’s side, Emiliano Martínez, after two consecutive wins, passed the baton to Gianluigi Donnarumma, now Manchester City’s goalkeeper.
The Italian keeper, however, earned the honor for his contribution to winning all major trophies, most notably the Champions League, while wearing the PSG shirt.
Socrates Award – For Humanitarian Action
The “Xana Foundation,” created by Luis Enrique in memory of his young daughter Xana, who tragically passed away, received the award. The foundation supports children in need who face health problems from a young age.
