Kosovo launches project "Basketball 3.0"
The Basketball Federation of Kosovo (FBK) has presented the project “Basketball 3.0,” a new vision aimed at transforming the sport in the country through modernization, inclusiveness, and professionalism.
FBK President Arben Fetahu said the strategy involves adapting to technology and modern standards, including all communities, and improving the quality of clubs, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
The platform was praised by Kosovo Olympic Committee President Ismet Krasniqi as aligned with the Olympic spirit, while the Ministry of Sports expressed support for talent development and international promotion of Kosovo basketball.
“Today, on this continuous journey, the Basketball Federation is presenting Basketball 3.0, our new vision, the biggest initiative and project with which we hope to transform basketball in every aspect. Basketball 3.0 is a comprehensive strategy, a new philosophy on how we will develop, organize, and promote basketball. What is basketball in a few brief points? It includes modernization, because basketball must keep up with the times, technology, digitalization, and the highest standards of sports organization… Beyond that, it is inclusiveness, because we must ensure basketball is played by everyone – girls, boys, youth from all communities… Then, we must work on quality and professionalism together with all club representatives, who know how much effort we have made over the years to ensure professionalism through licensing criteria,” Fetahu said.
Kosovo Olympic Committee President Ismet Krasniqi emphasized that Basketball 3.0 aligns perfectly with the Olympic movement’s spirit.
“In the spirit of the Olympic movement, Basketball 3.0 means three strong pillars: progress, creativity, and unity. The goals of Basketball 3.0 are fully in harmony with our Olympic vision. Increasing participation aligns with our ideal of sport for all, developing young talents and girls is part of our commitment to equality and equal opportunities, and improving Kosovo’s image on the international stage is a mission we share daily through sport and our Olympic athletes,” Krasniqi said.
Fidan Shatri, Head of the Sports Department at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, expressed the ministry’s readiness to support such projects.
“Two of the five points impress me most: talent development and international presentation. I call especially on your members that talent development is linked to our clubs and that more work is done on international presentation. The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports will always be a capable partner for projects aimed at developing basketball,” Shatri said.
Thus, basketball in Kosovo is entering a completely new dimension. With Basketball 3.0, it is not just about games but a transformation affecting every aspect of national representation and the future of the sport.
