
Bulgaria Earns 5 Medals at Rhythmic Gymnastics Worlds
Stiliana Nikolova won a silver medal in the ribbon final, while Eva Brezalieva ranked seventh at the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) on Sunday evening. Bulgaria thus finished this championship with a total of five medals - four silver and one bronze, CE Report quotes BTA.
Nikolova performed her routine excellently and was awarded 29.800 points (difficulty 13.000; artistry 8.450; execution 8.350). The title in the ribbon was defended by Olympic and two-time world champion Darja Varfolomeev (Germany) with 30.250 points, while third place went to European champion from Tallinn 2025 Taisiia Onofriichuk (Ukraine) with 29.100 points.
Earlier, Nikolova won a bronze medal in the clubs final and a silver medal in the hoop final.
The Bulgarian women's ensemble finished fifth in the five ribbons final. This is the first world championship for this team (Sofia Ivanova, Rachel Stoyanov, Alina Kolomiets, Danaya Atanasova, and Emilia Obretenova), which includes three debutants: Kolomiets, Atanasova, and Obretenova.
Bulgaria finished the competition with five medals – four silver and one bronze. Stiliana Nikolova came second in the all-around, second in the hoop and ribbon, third in the clubs, and Bulgaria won silver in the team competition.
