Romania will send a team of 12 athletes to the World Senior Fencing Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia, taking place from July 22 to 30. The team includes four male and eight female fencers, aiming for 4th to 6th place finishes in both individual and team events, CE Report quotes AGERPRES

Romanian athletes will compete in women’s and men’s sabre, women’s foil, and women’s epee, while team events include men’s sabre, women’s foil, and women’s epee.

The lineup features:

  • Men’s Sabre: Radu Nitu, Vlad Covaliu, Razvan Ursachi, George Dragomir (coaches Valeri Sturbabin, Tiberiu Dolniceanu)

  • Women’s Sabre: Andreea Lupu (coach Valeri Sturbabin)

  • Women’s Foil: Malina Calugareanu, Rebeca Candescu, Ingrid Bikfalvi Miti (coach Florin Gheorghe)

  • Women’s Epee: Alexandra Predescu, Bianca Benea, Natalia Constantin, Theodora Ion (coach Octavian Zidaru)

At the 2023 World Championships in Milan, Malina Calugareanu secured the best Romanian result with 8th place in the individual foil. The men’s sabre team ranked 10th.

During the 2025 European Championships in Genoa, Romania fell short of the podium, with Vlad Covaliu achieving the top national result — 5th place in men’s individual sabre.
