Marseille star eyes Milan reunion after Champions League boost
Former Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot has hinted that he would be open to joining Serie A rivals Milan following the appointment of former Bianconeri coach Massimiliano Allegri at the end of last week.
Allegri has returned to Milan on a two-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months, 11 years after he first left the Rossoneri. He replaces Sergio Conceicao, whose stay at San Siro lasted six months, according to the Italian newspaper, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
Rabiot, who spent five years with Juventus – three of which under Allegri – left Turin last summer, not long after the Italian coach was sacked.
Currently, the French midfielder plays for Olympique de Marseille under the guidance of Roberto De Zerbi, where he has made an important contribution this season with 10 goals and six assists in 31 matches in all competitions.
While he remains under contract with the French club until the summer of 2026, Rabiot stresses that he will always be open to talking to Allegri.
In an interview with "La Gazzetta dello Sport", Rabiot revealed that teammates often refer to him and Allegri as "father and son".
"Choosing to move to Marseille, without having qualified for the Champions League, was not a guarantee. Now that we have qualified, it would be fantastic to play in that stadium and in that atmosphere," he replied when asked if he would be open to a move to Milan.
"I speak to Allegri often," the Frenchman added. "Giovanni Rossi, De Zerbi's advisor, also works with him, and every time he calls me, he says: 'Come here, I'll put you through to your father.'
"I can talk about everything with Allegri, not just about football. I appreciate him a lot as a person. He has a winning mentality. And of course, if he calls me, I will always be ready to talk to him," Rabiot concluded.
