Bulgaria Increases Youth and Sports Funding

The Bulgarian government is stepping up efforts to support youth and sports initiatives in Southwestern Bulgaria, Minister of Youth and Sports Ivan Peshev announced during a regional tour on Monday, CE Report quotes BTA

Joined by Youth and Sports Committee Chairman Gabriel Valkov and BSP-United Left MPs Atanas Atanasov and Kiril Dobrev, Peshev met with local sports clubs in Petrich and Sandanski to discuss funding, infrastructure, and youth policy.

"This year’s budget for sport and youth policy is nearly BGN 180 million — a 31% increase from last year," Peshev said. The funds will support sports facilities, events, youth programs, and the training of sports professionals.

He also revealed that the Ministry is preparing a new 12-year National Strategy for the development of physical activity, education, sport, and sport-tourism.
