Romania Aims for 15 Paralympic Medals
President of the National Paralympic Committee (CNP), Eduard Novak, announced on Tuesday at the launch of Parasport Camp 2025 in Bucharest that Romania has the potential to win around 15 medals at future Paralympic Games, CE Report quotes Agerpres
Speaking at the 'Lia Manoliu' National Sports Complex, Novak noted that while Romania had only six qualified athletes for the 2024 Games—compared to seven in 2008—the real goal is to reach 60–80 athletes and significantly increase the medal count. “This term will focus on fully integrating Paralympic sports within Romania's 29 national federations,” he said, highlighting the challenges and necessary legal and institutional support needed to achieve this.
Novak also emphasized the importance of identifying medal opportunities in niche sports. “Para-climbing, for instance, will debut in Los Angeles 2028, and we already have promising results. We need a smart strategy that targets disciplines where we can truly excel.”
Parasport Camp 2025 marks a unified effort to promote Paralympic sports and greater engagement from national federations. The camp brought together key athletes and sports figures, including Paris 2024 medalists Alexandru Bologa and Camelia Ciripan, along with several Olympic athletes and sports officials.
