Harold Martin Lopez, winner of Stage 6 at the Tour of Türkiye, expressed his excitement after the race, promising to return to the country for a holiday to fully enjoy its culture and cuisine, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

The 24-year-old Ecuadorian cyclist, who now ranks second overall, told Anadolu Agency that although he couldn’t enjoy the local food during the eight-day race, he’s eager to experience it on his own time.

“This is my second time in Türkiye. Last year I finished fifth, now I’m second — I hope to win next year,” said Lopez, celebrating his second professional victory.

Reflecting on the tough conditions, Lopez mentioned slippery roads and thunder during the stage, adding, “Cycling isn’t an easy sport — we always have to be careful.”

The Tour of Türkiye, organized by the Turkish Cycling Federation, covers 1,153 kilometers over eight stages, passing through key tourist destinations from Antalya to Izmir. First launched as the Marmara Tour in 1963, it gained international recognition two years later and remains one of the region’s top cycling events.
