Hospitality Burnout in Focus

Romania

Occupational burnout in the hospitality industry was a key topic at the Food & Beverages Innovation Camp, held May 26–28 at Balvanyos Resort and hosted by the Hospitality Culture Institute. Over 140 industry experts and entrepreneurs from Romania and abroad attended the event, which marked the conclusion of the F&B Business Accelerator programme, CE Report quotes Agerpres

Florin Maxim, founder of the Institute, highlighted the intense pressure and lack of support faced by hospitality workers, particularly in kitchens and delivery roles. “There’s no time for breaks, and stress builds up in these back-of-house roles, which are often invisible to diners,” he said.

Maxim also pointed to frequent inspections and labor shortages as major stressors, noting that the sector has lost its appeal as a first job for students. “We’re forced to rely on Asian labor, which adds new challenges,” he added.

The event underscored the urgent need to address these issues, aiming to foster a healthier work culture in Romania’s hospitality sector.
