
Romania, South Korea Strengthen Strategic Ties
Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan met Friday at the Victoria Palace with Woo Won-shik, Speaker of the South Korean National Assembly, during his official visit to Romania, CE Report quotes AGERPRES
According to a government statement, the two officials praised the strong bilateral ties and emphasized cooperation in key sectors like nuclear energy and defense. They discussed the refurbishment of Unit 1 at the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant, a project involving Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., alongside partners from Canada and Italy. The €1.9 billion project was highlighted as a key example of high-value economic cooperation.
Bolojan also stressed Romania’s goal to boost trade and attract further South Korean investment. The meeting coincides with the 35th anniversary of Romania–South Korea diplomatic relations, marked under a Strategic Partnership launched in 2008 and reinforced by a 2024 Joint Declaration.
