EU warns Bosnia of further funding cuts over reform delays

Bosnia and Herzegovina has effectively lost another year in terms of making tangible progress on its European path, and if the country’s authorities fail to meet the necessary conditions for implementing the Western Balkans Growth Plan by the end of the year, they will face a further reduction in European Union funding, EU Ambassador and Special Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina Luigi Soreca warned.

Presenting the European Commission’s 2026 report on Bosnia and Herzegovina, which he handed to Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers Borjana Krišto, Soreca said that EU integration formally remains the country’s strategic goal, but that Bosnia and Herzegovina is simultaneously moving further away from its European path, CE Report quotes FENA.

“The main message of this year’s report is unequivocal: EU integration remains Bosnia and Herzegovina’s declared strategic goal, but at the same time, the country is moving increasingly further away from its European path,” Soreca stressed.
