President of the Pan-European Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina, academician Franjo Topić, participated as one of the speakers at the international Pan-European conference "United for a Europe of Peace", held from October 22 to 24, 2026, in Zagreb and Karlovac, Croatia.

The conference brought together prominent representatives of European political, diplomatic, academic and social circles.

Academician Topić took part in the panel discussion "United Europe on a Mission for Peace", dedicated to the role of European unity in preserving peace, stability and security across the continent, as well as the challenges Europe faces in the current geopolitical environment, according to a statement issued by the Pan-European Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina, CE Report quotes FENA.

The statement noted that Topić's participation in this significant international gathering reflects his decades-long commitment to promoting peace, dialogue, mutual understanding and European values.

"As a long-standing advocate of the European idea and president of the Pan-European Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina, academician Topić has consistently emphasized the importance of European unity through his public and social engagement, particularly for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider Southeast European region," the statement added.

During the conference, academician Franjo Topić and members of the Pan-European Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina delegation met with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. The meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of good relations, European cooperation and continued dialogue on the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina within the European community.

Particular emphasis was placed on Croatia's role as a European Union member state in supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina's European integration process.

As part of the conference programme in Karlovac, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković was awarded the Pan-European Medal of the German Pan-European Union in recognition of his contribution to European unity. The award further highlighted the importance of political efforts aimed at strengthening European cooperation and solidarity.

At a time of heightened international tensions, security challenges and political divisions, the conference addressed important questions concerning the future of the European project, the responsibilities of European institutions and the need to preserve peace as one of the fundamental values upon which modern Europe was built.

Topić's participation was particularly significant in representing Bosnia and Herzegovina in international Pan-European dialogue, where the European prospects of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans hold an important place.

His long-standing engagement has focused on promoting Bosnia and Herzegovina as a meeting point of cultures, religions and peoples, as well as an inseparable part of Europe's history, identity and future.

Alongside academician Topić, the delegation of the Pan-European Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina included Dario Plavčić, president of the Youth Section of the Pan-European Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Željko Galić, secretary of the Human Fraternity Foundation.

Their participation further contributed to presenting the activities and international cooperation of the Pan-European Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while highlighting the importance of involving younger generations in shaping Europe's future.

The conference "United for a Europe of Peace" once again reaffirmed the relevance of the Pan-European idea, founded on peace, freedom, democracy, solidarity and unity among European nations.

The Pan-European Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina, under the leadership of academician Franjo Topić, continues its activities aimed at promoting European values, strengthening international dialogue and advancing Bosnia and Herzegovina's European future.

These efforts are based on the belief that peace, cooperation and unity represent the enduring foundations of the European project, the statement concluded.
