Bosnia's Jajce prepares to mark 31st anniversary of Operation Maestral
President of the Croatian National Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HNS BiH), Dragan Čović, and House of Representatives member Darijana Filipović held a working meeting with representatives of the September 13 Jajce Association to discuss preparations for the 31st anniversary of Operation Maestral and the liberation of the royal city of Jajce.
The delegation of the September 13 Jajce Association was led by its president, Darko Samardžić. Anto Brtan, Berislav Vujeva and Ivo Šimunović also attended the meeting, CE Report informs via the Croatian National Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina's official website.
The association’s representatives presented this year’s commemoration programme, stressing the importance of respectfully preserving the memory of Croatian defenders and all those who contributed to the defence and liberation of Jajce during the Homeland War. They emphasized that commemorating the anniversary represents a lasting obligation to preserve the historical truth about the role of the Croatian people and the Croatian Defence Council (HVO) in defending Croatian-populated areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as to foster a culture of remembrance.
During the meeting, it was confirmed that the Croatian National Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina will serve as the patron of the commemoration of the 31st anniversary of Operation Maestral and the liberation of Jajce, continuing its longstanding support for the organization of this important anniversary.
The participants stressed that preserving historical truth, unity and a dignified attitude toward Croatian defenders and victims of the Homeland War remains a lasting responsibility of Croatian political and social institutions.
In this context, they highlighted the importance of continued cooperation with veterans’ associations, whose activities make an invaluable contribution to preserving the values stemming from the Homeland War and passing historical knowledge on to future generations.
At the end of the meeting, the participants expressed confidence that this year’s commemoration, held under the patronage of HNS BiH, would once again pay due tribute to all Croatian defenders and reaffirm a lasting commitment to preserving their contribution to the freedom, survival and equality of the Croatian people in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
