U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that he had a “good” meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the G7 leaders’ summit and stated that “Russia should reach an agreement.”

The American leader made these remarks while answering questions from journalists during a meeting with the Emir of Qatar, CE Report quotes Ukrinform.

“Russia should make a deal,” Trump said, confirming that he had a “very good meeting” with Zelensky.

He also added that he is scheduled to meet with the Ukrainian president again today.

“Listen, Russia should make a deal. Russia has lost tremendous amounts of people, and so has Ukraine,” Trump emphasized in response to reporters. He explained that “Last month they lost 35 thousand soldiers. These on a monthly basis, the average of 25 thousand people, mostly young, beautiful people”.

Calling the Russian-Ukrainian war madness, Trump noted that he had a good meeting with Zelensky. “I spoke with President Putin on Sunday,” Trump said, without revealing the content of his conversation with the Kremlin leader.

The American leader added that “there's a lot of dislike between the two leaders [of Ukraine and Russia],” and he will meet with Zelensky again later today.

As reported, the G7 summit began on Monday, June 15, in the French city of Evian-les-Bains, with the key event for Ukraine being a working meeting on Tuesday featuring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on peace and security for Ukraine and Europe.

Zelensky described the meetings currently underway in Evian, France, at the G7 summit as substantive and stated that the key task is to strengthen air defense and push Russia toward diplomacy.
