Moldovan officials meet U.S. congressional delegation

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi and Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi met with a delegation from the United States Congress in Chișinău on Thursday. The talks focused on bilateral relations and continued cooperation in areas of mutual interest, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

The delegation included Representatives Tom Cole (R-OK), Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), Steve Womack (R-AR), Mark Alford (R-MO), Glenn F. Ivey (D-MD) and Dave Joyce (R-OH).

During the meeting, Popșoi thanked the United States for its continued support for Moldova and for the contribution of American partners to strengthening the country’s security and resilience.

“We also highlighted the importance of the strategic LEA Strășeni-Gutinaș energy infrastructure project, financed by the United States, which is intended to strengthen energy independence and regional connectivity. The United States is an important partner for our country. We will continue our close dialogue with representatives of the U.S. Congress and further develop Moldovan-American cooperation for the benefit of our citizens,” Popșoi said.

Members of the delegation reaffirmed Congress’s interest in Moldova and its readiness to continue supporting the country’s efforts to strengthen resilience and advance its path toward European Union membership.

The U.S. congressional delegation is visiting Chișinău on Thursday. During the visit, the officials also met with President Maia Sandu. Their discussions focused on the regional security situation, strengthening Moldova’s resilience against hybrid threats, the country’s European integration process, and expanding bilateral economic and energy cooperation.
