U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is reportedly set to testify before Congress for the first time following the war that began with U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran.

According to sources cited by The Hill, Hegseth is expected to appear before Congress on April 29, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.

He is anticipated to testify before the House Armed Services Committee, with U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine also expected to attend the session. However, sources noted that the date could still change.

The Pentagon had already briefed members of Congress on March 25 regarding the war triggered by strikes carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran.

Meanwhile, Democratic members of the committee had called on Republican Representative Mike Rogers, who chairs the panel, to hold a public hearing with Pentagon officials.

In a letter drafted by committee members, they expressed “deep concern over the lack of transparency by the Trump administration and the Department of Defense, and their failure to adequately inform Congress and the American public.”

Rogers also stated that they want more information about what is happening, what options are being considered, and why—but have not received sufficient answers.
