Bosnian leader defends wife’s US visit from political spin
The Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, announced that his wife, Mirela Bećirović, is currently in the United States at the personal invitation of the U.S. First Lady, Melania Trump, attending an international gathering with spouses of high-ranking officials from several countries, including Montenegro, Slovenia, Serbia, Albania, North Macedonia, and Kosovo.
Bećirović noted that his wife has his full support for participating in this event and emphasized that all protocol matters, including the schedule of activities and seating arrangements, are solely under the host’s authority, CE Report quotes FENA.
“Also, due to a number of false claims, I must state that Mirela has never traveled at the expense of the state. Therefore, I consider it important that we are responsible for what we say and write. Manipulating media headlines and interpretations damages the reputation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Attempts at dirty spin orchestrated by a political mastermind and their paid liars are a continuation of their dishonorable work,” Bećirović said.
He added that Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue building friendships with its strategic partners and all friendly countries.
“We must fight for the interests of the state in the most important centers of global power, rather than shirking responsibility and leaving our enemies to lobby against Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Bećirović emphasized in his statement.
