The demographic issue, which affects the economy, social cohesion, development, the insurance system and, ultimately, the ability to ensure equal opportunities for all is a priority in 2026, Social Cohesion and Family Minister of Greece Domna Michailidou said in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA).

Michailidou referred to the housing crisis, emphasizing that a plan is being developed with a number of government interventions, to which six new interventions are added, recently announced by the Greek Prime Minister, all with a common goal: to rapidly increase the supply of housing, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.

The minister also highlighted the ministry's initiatives for the revitalization of the region and for women's rights, as well as their protection from abusive behaviors.

Regarding the decline in birth rates, she admitted that this is due to insecurity about the future and argued that "we must rebuild a sense of stability and perspective."
