Albania committed to bilateral pensions agreement with Greece
Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, Elisa Spiropali, said that the Albanian government remains fully committed to reaching a bilateral agreement on pensions with Greece, a move aimed at safeguarding the rights of Albanian citizens living and working in the neighboring country.
Speaking at a meeting with the Albanian community in Athens, Spiropali stressed the importance of maintaining strong ties with Albanian culture and roots among the diaspora, while praising the contribution of Albanians in Greece, CE Report quotes ATA.
“We are fully committed to reaching the pensions agreement, to guarantee rights and improve access to services for Albanians who live and work in Greece,” Spiropali said.
She described the Albanian community in Greece as a living chapter of Albania’s modern history, highlighting what she called their sacrifice, work ethic and dignity.
Foreign Minister Spiropali is on an official visit to Athens at the invitation of Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis.
The visit began on Tuesday with a meeting with Greece’s President Konstantinos Tasoulas.
She later held bilateral talks with her Greek counterpart, during which the two discussed strengthening bilateral relations, Greece’s support for Albania’s European Union integration and advancing strategic cooperation in the region, according to a statement.
The ministers delivered a joint press statement following the meeting.
On the second day of the visit, Spiropali also met with Greek Defence Minister Niko Dendias and with representatives of businesses operating between Albania and Greece to discuss prospects for expanding economic cooperation.
