King Charles moves to strip prince Andrew of final military title

The United Kingdom is taking steps to strip Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, of his final honorary military rank under the direction of King Charles III, confirmed Defence Secretary John Healey.

Healey told the BBC that the King, Andrew’s elder brother, had “indicated that this is what he wants,” CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

Andrew, who was stripped of his title as prince on Thursday due to his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, has retained his rank as Vice Admiral in the Royal Navy since stepping back from his other military roles in 2022.

“This is the right move; it’s an action the King has shown we should take, and we are working on it at the moment,” said Healey.

Andrew served 22 years in the Royal Navy and was a helicopter pilot during the 1982 Falklands War, when he was also 22 years old.

Earlier this week, he lost his remaining titles and privileges after months of pressure over his links to Epstein, including allegations that he himself committed rape — allegations which Andrew has consistently denied.
