Romania: Russia Meddled in Moldova Vote

Politics

During an official visit to Austria, Romanian President Nicușor Dan accused Russia of interfering in Moldova's elections through hybrid warfare tactics. Speaking at a joint press conference with Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, Dan cited documented cases of vote-buying networks and online manipulation, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

"In Moldova, beyond cyberattacks and social media influence, we’ve seen organized networks buying votes — with thousands of cases documented by prosecutors," he said.

Dan added that, according to EU and NATO reports, Russia set up seemingly harmless websites on topics like sports and health, later repurposing them for propaganda during election periods.
