Orban, Trump Back Nawrocki in Polish Vote
This Sunday, Nawrocki will face Rafal Trzaskowski, the mayor of Warsaw and candidate of the centrist Civic Platform (PO), Poland's main ruling party, CE Report quotes PAP
At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Budapest, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban declared, "Long live Nawrocki," and criticized Brussels for failing Europe, vowing to take back power. Orban's government has clashed with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, particularly over Poland granting asylum to an ex-minister accused of corruption.
Former US President Donald Trump also addressed the Budapest CPAC via video, praising Orban as a "great man" and vowing to reshape the EU in a conservative image. Trump has maintained warm ties with PiS and Polish President Andrzej Duda, who attended Poland's first-ever CPAC this Tuesday.
Earlier this month, Nawrocki visited the White House and met with Trump, signaling close ties between the Republican figure and Poland's conservative opposition.
