100,000 Moldovans Vote in Romanian Election
Over 100,000 citizens in the Republic of Moldova voted in the Romanian presidential elections by 11:40 AM on Sunday, May 18 — setting a new record. The voting continues until 9:00 PM, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES
Government spokesperson Daniel Vodă called the turnout “more than a number,” describing it as “a statement of respect against hate — for Romania, for Moldova, for democracy, for the future.”
He praised voters who came with family or alone, voting peacefully and with conviction. “Romania needs every vote from those who believe in honesty, love, and decency,” Vodă added, calling each vote “a ‘yes’ to Europe” and shared democratic values.
The current turnout surpasses the first round of voting two weeks ago, when about 91,000 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship voted over three days.
In Moldova, 64 polling stations are open from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM, including 20 in Chisinau, 18 in the north, 38 in the center, and 8 in the south.
