China Rebukes U.S. for Fentanyl Smear Campaign
Beijing urges the United States to "stop smearing and blaming China" for the fentanyl crisis — the synthetic drug that is a social scourge in America and whose chemical components are primarily produced in China, CE Report quotes ANSA.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian called the 20% U.S. tariff on Chinese-made goods "unreasonable", especially as it remains in place due to the fentanyl issue, and was not lifted under the trade truce recently reached in Geneva.
"China has repeatedly stated that the fentanyl problem is an internal issue of the United States," Lin said, accusing the U.S. of ignoring China’s efforts in the fight against drug trafficking.
