UK rallies for Kosovo at UN
The United Kingdom has been a long-term supporter and friend of the Republic of Kosovo and the reaffirmation of Kosovo's support on its Euro-Atlantic journey was also stated during the recent visit of the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom, David Lammy, to Pristina.
This was emphasized by the British representative, Fergus Eckersley, at Tuesday's session of the United Nations Security Council. He added that the recent elections in Kosovo were peaceful and competitive, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
"The United Kingdom has been a long-term supporter and friend of Kosovo and we remain committed to supporting Kosovo's Euro-Atlantic journey and the development of a multi-ethnic democratic society," said Eckersley.
Eckersley also said that as supporters of Kosovo's statehood, they welcome the recognition of Kosovo's independence by Kenya, while encouraging all countries that have not done so to do so as soon as possible.
"As supporters of Kosovo's statehood, we welcome the recent recognition of Kenya, adding to the number of recognizing states, and we encourage all those who have not recognized Kosovo's independence to do so as soon as possible," he stressed.
Further, the British representative asked Serbia to bring to justice the perpetrators of the KFOR attacks, the one in Banjska, and to cooperate with Kosovo to identify the perpetrators of the attack on the Iber-Lepenc canal.
