Moldova Proposes Russian-Language Broadcasts on National TV

Politics

On March 12, a new draft law was introduced in Moldova's Parliament, proposing that the National Television include Russian-language broadcasts to provide Russian-speaking citizens with access to official and accurate information. The initiative comes from PAS MPs Eugen Sinchevici and Natalia Davidovici, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

The lawmakers argue that the lack of a national Russian-language channel has left many citizens vulnerable to propaganda and disinformation from external sources. "Many Russian speakers are forced to rely on misleading information, especially during elections and referendums," Sinchevici stated.

He cited misinformation in Gagauzia, where many believe Russia is the region’s main donor, despite significant EU investments in infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

The proposal aims to enhance social cohesion, ensure equal access to government information, and promote national unity.
