During the ceremony, President Sandu emphasized the challenges of the energy sector, stressing the need to strengthen energy security and ensure affordable prices. She highlighted key projects like the Chișinău-Vulcănești power line and the push for renewable energy investments to reduce costs.

Prime Minister Recean welcomed Junghietu to the team, outlining three main priorities: securing uninterrupted energy supply, completing the Vulcănești-Chișinău power line on schedule, and accelerating investment projects in energy production and efficiency.

Junghietu, an expert with over 16 years of international experience in the energy sector, was previously selected as Chairman of the Board of Moldovagaz, though Gazprom has yet to approve the appointment. His ministerial role became vacant after the dismissal of Victor Parlicov in December 2024 over natural gas procurement issues.
