Kikilias: There were 1,470 fires in July, of which 10 were large and difficult

"July concluded with 1,470 fires, of which 10 were large and we dealt with them with great difficulty and a great deal of effort," Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Vassilis Kikilias said on Tuesday in an interview with public broadcaster ERT. CE Report quoting Athens-Macedonian
Kikilias said that teams from the civil protection Support Secretariat had already started to record the damage from the fires.
"I am not going to gloss over anything," he said, while noting that the men and women of the fire department, assisted by the police, coast guard, armed forces, volunteers and ordinary citizens were fighting these battles daily.
