North Macedonia Doubles Down on NATO Defense Pledge

The fiscal consolidation is continuing and the fiscal strategy is our obligation that we aim to implement. On the five percent of the GDP for defense spending, we are currently among the countries that are allocating the most, around two percent, said Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska, CE Report quotes MIA.

"Last year, we projected the rate at 2.1 percent and eventually, the GDP was higher. We will do another revision now and we'll know the amount we have allocated over the past couple of years. But when making the projections, the calculation stands at two percent. We are a NATO member and we aim to implement the obligations we are given. From a current standpoint, we cannot say when this will happen, we'll see the state of the budget and then look if we can do this at once or through an adaptation period," said Minister Dimitrieska-Kochoska.
