The Chinese–Macedonian Chamber of Commerce was officially launched in Skopje with the goal of strengthening business ties in order to boost Macedonian exports on the Chinese market and allow Chinese businesses to research opportunities for investment in North Macedonia.

Speakers at the launch event noted that the greatest potential for cooperation between the two business communities lies in tourism, energy, and the manufacturing of electric vehicles, CE Report quotes MIA.

“The idea to establish this chamber of commerce came from a simple, yet significant vision – to create a strong and sustainable platform that will connect businesses from China and Macedonia, encourage trade and investments, and create new opportunities for cooperation and partnership. Today that vision has become reality. Today marks not only the beginning of the work of the Chinese-Macedonian Chamber of Commerce, but also the beginning of a new chapter in the friendship and economic cooperation between our two countries,” said the President of the Chinese-Macedonian Chamber of Commerce, Zhaolong Shao.

According to He Binghua, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in the country, the friendship between the two countries has been consistently strengthening over the past years, while positive development has been noted in economic and trade cooperation.

“A growing number of Macedonian companies recognize China as an important partner, which is a testament to the bright prospects of the future development of bilateral economic cooperation. The founding of the chamber of commerce establishes a more professional and more efficient platform for exchange and cooperation between the business communities of China and North Macedonia,” He Binghua stressed.

The executive director of the Chinese-Macedonian Chamber of Commerce, Renata Penchova, noted that for now the country only exports wine to China.

“But Macedonian products are well received on the Chinese market. Not just wine, but also marble, tobacco... Chinese businessmen are open for cooperation and would like to see opportunities for the export of other products as well,” Penchova stressed.

The event was also attended by the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of political system, Ljupcho Dimovski, who said the founding of the Chinese-Macedonian Chamber of Commerce is a significant step forward in boosting economic ties between the two countries.

“Today we are not only making the first step – we are laying the foundations for an even stronger institutional, economic, and friendly partnership between the Republic of Macedonia and the People’s Republic of China. The establishment of this chamber is a confirmation that the stable relations between our countries have a practical aspect that connects people, companies, and ideas, through institutions. It is precisely through institutional bridges like these that we build trust, facilitate communication, and create room for new economic opportunities. As a Government we remain firmly committed to building efficient institutions, rule of law, legal certainty, and transparency. These are the foundations upon which every successful economy is built and they are the prerequisites for new investments and the development of a competitive business community. I am convinced that the Chinese-Macedonian Chamber of Commerce will become a significant partner in the enhancement of economic cooperation, contribute to closer ties between business community, encourage the transfer of knowledge and technologies, and create new opportunities for investments, trade, and shared development,” Dimovski said.
