
North Macedonia Sees Population Decline
There there were fewer babies born and more people dying nationwide in the first quarter of 2025 than in the first quarter of 2024, according to the latest figures released by the State Statistical Office of North Macedonia, CE Report quotes MIA.
In the first quarter of 2025, the SSO release said, compared to the same quarter of 2024, live births dropped by 2.9% and deaths increased by 3.8%.
According to the official data, 3,526 children were born and 5,398 people, of whom 15 babies, died.
Due to this negative natural population growth, the country lost 1,872 inhabitants.
There were also fewer marriages (by 25.8%) and fewer divorces (by 22.1%), with 1,846 couples getting married and 465 married couples divorcing.
