Recean Visits Colibasi to Highlight Development

Moldova

Prime Minister Dorin Recean visited Colibasi village in southern Moldova’s Cahul district, where he met with residents and reviewed several recently modernized public infrastructure projects supported by the government and international partners, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Recean toured key sites including the renovated Community Centre, local market, art school, and street segments. A major highlight was the near-completed 8.7 km Colibasi-Vulcanesti road—one of the region’s most anticipated projects. In 2023 alone, 4.4 km of the road were repaired with 68 million lei from the Road Fund.

At a meeting with locals, Recean emphasized the government's commitment to improving rural life and maintaining Moldova’s European development path. “Projects that improve citizens' lives show our concern for localities,” he said.

Other completed works include the refurbishment of the town hall, high school, and the transformation of an old cinema into a multifunctional hall. Water infrastructure was also improved through the European Village program, ensuring full coverage for residents.

The local market was modernized with over €200,000 in support from the EU and UNDP, while the Community Centre saw a 7 million lei investment for full renovation.

Colibasi Mayor Ion Dolganiuc noted that the upgraded road will benefit over 17,000 residents and provide better access to 5,000 hectares of farmland.
