"Sandu Urges Unity and EU Push"

Moldova

Today, President Maia Sandu addressed Moldova's Parliament, emphasizing peace, unity, and the country’s path toward the European Union amid global instability, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Sandu highlighted the importance of preserving peace and freedom, calling them Moldova’s top priorities: “Life is the most precious gift, and freedom means the certainty that no one will take away our right to live with dignity.”

She reaffirmed Moldova’s support for Ukraine, condemning any attempts to destabilize the region in favor of aggressors: “Ukraine is our shield. We have a moral duty to prevent Moldova from being drawn into war.”

Sandu urged accelerated efforts toward EU accession within the next four years, underlining that Moldova’s security and prosperity depend on European integration. She warned against internal threats like electoral corruption, calling it a danger to democracy and sovereignty.

Listing government achievements, Sandu pointed to increased incomes, investments in infrastructure, energy independence, and justice reform — noting that 140 judges have left the system in four years, with the Prosecutor’s Office next in line for reform.

Concluding ahead of Easter, Sandu called for national unity and optimism: “We have two treasures: the unity of the people and the support of those who wish us well. I believe in Moldova.”
