Polish, British governments discuss new directions for cooperation
The Polish-British Economic Forum provided an opportunity for representatives of the Polish and British governments to discuss new directions for cooperation in investment, innovation, and technology.
“The agenda of today’s forum clearly identifies the sectors where our cooperation can deliver tangible results: infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, energy, defense, and dual-use technologies,” said Minister of Finance and Economy of Poland Andrzej Domański during his inaugural speech at the forum.
Discussions and meetings at the forum focused on key aspects of Polish-British economic cooperation—security and competitiveness, supply chain resilience, and innovation capacity and cross-border collaboration, CE Report informs via the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of the Republic of Poland's official website.
The importance of cooperation in advanced technologies and digital innovation was also highlighted. The forum included bilateral meetings and networking sessions with representatives of the largest companies from Poland and the United Kingdom.
Security and Finance
The main topic of the meeting with Chancellor Rachel Reeves was the development of British investments in the Polish defense sector. Discussions also covered mutual investments in other economic sectors, competitiveness, dual-use technologies, and Poland’s participation in the G20 during the UK’s presidency. Minister Domański also invited British government representatives to attend the June Ukraine Recovery Conference.
Meeting with Secretary of State for Business and Trade
The visit to London also provided an opportunity for Minister Domański to meet with British Secretary of State for Business and Trade Peter Kyle. The talks focused primarily on investment, development of new cooperation opportunities and support tools, as well as strengthening economic ties in strategic sectors along the UK-Poland and UK-EU axes. Minister Domański also addressed the issue of lifting import restrictions on Polish food, which remain a key barrier to bilateral trade.
Capital Markets Conference
Minister Domański also attended the CEE Capital Markets Conference, organized by PKO BP Brokerage House. The main goal of this recurring event is to promote the domestic capital market to foreign institutional investors.
“The greatest strength of the Polish economy today is its ability to attract investment, supported by favorable labor market conditions and the overall structure of the economy. Poland is an attractive destination for foreign capital thanks to a stable macroeconomic environment, well-educated workforce, and growing economic activity,” said Minister Domański during the conference.
The visit to the United Kingdom also included a lecture at the London School of Economics on building economic resilience and competitiveness in the context of current geopolitical risks, followed by a meeting with Polish students and alumni of British universities.
