Speaker Igor Grosu Honors Fallen Soldiers in Afghanistan War Ceremony

Speaker Igor Grosu attended a commemoration ceremony for those who fell in the Afghanistan war, alongside veterans and families of the fallen. The event took place at the Feciorilor Patriei – Sfânta Amintire memorial complex in the capital, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Participants observed a minute of silence and laid flowers at the commemorative plaques. Grosu emphasized the importance of supporting veterans and honoring their sacrifices.

"Our duty is to care for those who returned and to remember those who did not. War is suffering—no one needs it. Together, by preserving peace, we will succeed," he said.

The Afghanistan war lasted from 1979 to 1989, with nearly 13,000 Moldovans participating and 301 losing their lives.
