Moldova Celebrates Christmas on December 25 Following New Style Traditions

Moldova

On December 25, many Christians in Moldova celebrate the Birth of Christ according to the Gregorian calendar. This day, marking Christ's birth over two thousand years ago, is a significant feast for Orthodox believers and one of the 12 major liturgical celebrations of the year, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Key traditions include caroling and decorating Christmas trees. While several churches in Moldova observe Christmas on this date, others follow the Julian calendar and celebrate on January 7.

To allow families to celebrate both traditions, authorities have declared December 25, January 7, and 8 as official holidays.
