Moldovan culture shines at festival in Portugal

The Moldovan community in Portugal celebrated with emotion and joy the Mărțișor Festival, now in its 19th edition. It has become a tradition that each year this symbol of spring, renewal, and hope brings together compatriots from different parts of Portugal, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

The event took place at the Boa Nova Auditorium in Estoril and was organized by the Moldovan Cultural Center with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Moldova and local authorities from Cascais.

The atmosphere was colorful, musical, and energetic. The first part of the program featured Moldovans living in Portugal. Despite being far from home, they continue to preserve traditions, music, and folk dances. Performers and groups presented folk songs, traditional dances, and lively Roma dances full of passion.

In the second part of the show, professional artists from Moldova took the stage, including the group Ecou Arhaic and cobza master Victor Botnaru, delighting the audience with a rich selection of traditional music, from ancient to modern pieces.

The Mărțișor Festival in Portugal is not only an artistic event but also a meaningful occasion for reunion and strengthening the community, proving that traditions have no borders and continue to live on through people who cherish them.

The event was attended by Moldova’s ambassador Alexei Cracan and Romania’s ambassador Daniela Gîtman, who praised the Moldovan community in Portugal for preserving and promoting cultural traditions.

The Moldovan ambassador also awarded diplomas to several community members in recognition of their contributions and involvement.

Such events continue to strengthen ties among Moldovans in Portugal and promote the richness of cultural traditions within the diaspora.
