The Mayor of Pristina, Përparim Rama, in a press conference, outlined the challenges and achievements of the past year, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

He identified obstacles caused by the central government as a major challenge in implementing several projects.

He stated that the central government has not supported the capital ring road project.

"We have had a very intensive year with many challenges and significant projects completed throughout the year. One of the main challenges is addressing the issue of stray dogs. The capital has actively tackled this problem by encouraging adoption, and so far, 600 stray dogs have been adopted, with an additional 1,000 requests still pending. I hope the new year will be more cooperative," he said.

"Another issue that remains a challenge is the capital ring road, not only for Pristina but for the whole of Kosovo, considering its connection to the Mediterranean Games project. The project is ready but remains unsupported by the government, even though 40% of the budget is secured. Kosovo heavily relies on its budget, with 49% coming from Pristina," he added.

Rama also mentioned that the Agim Ramdani underpass project will be completed by March.
"Approval to start work has not yet been granted. Regarding the urban island project, we are blocked by central institutions. The government is obstructing 30,000 residents of the capital. The capital hospital project is ready, but despite our requests to the Ministry, it has not been handed over for implementation."

Despite the challenges, Rama highlighted that the Municipality of Pristina has achieved historic results in budget implementation, exceeding 80%.
"We have excellent news. We broke records this year in budget implementation, with consistent annual growth. In 2024, budget implementation reached a historic 80%," he said.

When asked about the ongoing traffic congestion in the capital, Mayor Përparim Rama said that the obstacles to constructing the capital ring road are directly linked to the issue.
