Croatia issues travel advisory ahead of Thompson concert
The Tourism Ministry, the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ), Zagreb Airport, and the Zagreb Tourist Board have issued a travel advisory for travellers regarding alternative traffic routes during the weekend of 4-6 July, ahead of Thompson's concert in Zagreb and the anticipated congestion.
This guidance comes in response to expected heavy road traffic and a large turnout for the concert, which pop singer Marko Perković Thompson will give at the Zagreb Hippodrome on 5 July, with around 500,000 people expected to attend the event, CE Report quotes HINA.
That same weekend also marks the first major tourist weekend in July, a period traditionally marked by increased traffic, according to a joint statement from the ministry and HTZ on Tuesday.
To ease travel into and out of Croatia during this period, the competent authorities have taken necessary measures to ensure key information reaches tourists in a timely manner, aiming to minimise the impact of traffic disruptions and ensure that visitors' arrival, stay, and departure from Croatia are as pleasant and safe as possible.
All available communication channels, including the HTZ's offices abroad are being used to distribute information about alternative traffic routes and other recommendations issued by the Croatian Automobile Club (HAK), the ministry and HTZ stated.
These details have been shared with media outlets, tour operators, foreign automobile clubs, and travel agencies, with particular focus on the Slovenian, Austrian, Hungarian, and German markets.
In addition, the entire network of local tourist boards, tourism associations and organisations in Croatia, foreign travel platforms, as well as all accommodation providers via the eVisitor system, have been notified of the expected increase in road traffic and the recommended alternative routes for the weekend in question.
They have also been instructed to regularly monitor updates on HAK’s official website.
Franjo Tuđman Airport publishes notice on temporary traffic regulation ahead of concert
Franjo Tuđman Airport in Zagreb has published a notice on its website informing passengers about temporary traffic regulations in and around the city during the concert.
The airport advises travellers to plan their journeys in advance and follow the recommended detour routes.
The airport also shares detailed information provided by the Zagreb Tourist Board (TZGZ), published on its website infozagreb.hr, which includes recommendations for both residents and tourists in the city to stay informed, plan their travel, and organise their stay according to guidance from the relevant authorities.
It is also noted that information regarding temporary traffic changes in Zagreb is available on the official website of the City of Zagreb, while updates on changes to bus and tram services during the concert weekend can be found on the website of Zagreb Electric Tram (ZET).
Travellers are also being advised to monitor HAK updates on traffic conditions along motorways and bypass routes, due to the anticipated increase in traffic towards Zagreb, particularly on motorways A1, A6, A2, A3, and A4, as well as the Zagreb ring road.
The City of Zagreb and the concert organisers have issued a joint appeal urging people to avoid travelling to the concert by car and instead use public transport or arrive on foot.
